Since I have been asked this a lot, I thought I would post an update on the City Kitty's progress. The first couple of weeks in the trailer were really rough. We struggled with climate control, had massive rain, we moved it while he was inside, we had to tarp and un-tarp it. We had to get up on the roof repeatedly to seal it, etc. etc. etc. In short, there was a lot of commotion and he could never quite feel comfortable or safe.
Once we got the climate control issue dealt with he seemed to be doing better but he was still anxious and tore apart a vent in the trailer to crawl into a cubby hole and disappear. Then just about the time things seemed like they were settling down, he endured two storms. One was just heavy duty rain pelting the metal roof of the trailer for eight hours which was loud and intense. The second storm was combined with heavy wind, heavy thunder, pelting rain and hail. The constant shaking of the trailer due to wind and the branched hitting the roof basically made for one seriously stressed out kitty and ME! There is just no way to dull the intense noise of a storm when you are living in a metal box.
Then the weather got worse and we were getting tornado warning after warning. The part that drove me inside was watching reports of golf ball sized hail reported all over the area. I decided that other then attempt to dive indoors with the kitty during the middle of a massive hail storm we would take precautionary measures and move inside before the storm hit. As it turns out once again it skirted the edge of where we were and we escaped with just a really loud thunderstorm. But City Kitty was significantly calmer being in a real house again.
Since he's been inside he has intimidated the Tiny Tigress into avoiding him, the dog could care less and his only real fear seems to be from Mom. I have her hand delivering his food to him now and that seems to be changing his mind....slowly. He gets braver by the day so I'm pretty confident he'll come around.
The last thing he wants is for me to stick his butt back out in that trailer.
