It's officially my favorite time of year!
My sincerest apologies for neglecting the blog. Most of the progress as of late has been house related things like unpacking, sorting, cleaning and then purging once you wonder why you bothered to pack half this stuff in the first place. At least a lot of boxes are disappearing, which makes a huge difference. In between that, only the usual seasonal activities were attended to like constantly cleaning branch and walnut debris out of the yard and winter caulking all the windows. At some point we have to clean the gutters. Oh yeah, BORING! Hence, nothing new to report on the blog. But I will make a concentrated effort to post with more consistency. Even if it's just nature photos since nature is particularly beautiful here right now.
The trailer was hauled away today by two of the nicest guys. I was SO happy to see it go, it's like the yard has doubled in size.

May this be the forever end to the trailer days. The leaves will cover this ugly bald spot in no time.
Fearless Aunt is coming tomorrow and we are hoping to make significant progress on the shed. FM and I added a front wall and inserted a double paned, sliding glass door we found for free on Craig's List. Now we are searching for some free insulation to put between the inside walls (or at least the North wall) so it will be more winterized. That's for the cat, thank you very much!
The super recycled, pallet shed now has abundant natural sunlight!
We pulled recycled 4X4's from the downed utility pole and used them for part of the door frame. We also pulled all the industrial steel bolts and hardware and some other cool items - like this thing:
Do you know what this is? There are tons of them on eBay, believe it or not.
I appreciate it as a funky garden accessory because a flowery shaped piece of steel and a perfectly crafted ceramic...thing this cool shouldn't be tossed into the trash.

The warmer weather made a few of the plants attempt one more showy display. The Lilac bush, Basil and Catnip all made a huge comeback. Amazing what a little water and warmer weather can do. If I intend to harvest any I should do it soon though, the temps are supposed to drop into the 30's later this week. Oh man, I hope me and the City Kitty don't freeze to death.
The Lilac bush is in full bloom. I should pick some of these before the cold snap. They smell divine!
And the Basil plants rose like Lazarus. I should make some more pesto.
But right now, I'm gonna go run though the leaves and celebrate having the whole yard back.
