I have started clearing the fence rows surrounding the yard in preparation for the replacement fence. I'm thinning out the Iris bulbs and digging everything else up and tossing into the wash. My goal is to make the entire front fence look like this.
From this. You can also see how crappy the fence is in the photo and this is hardly the worst of it. It's only the honor system that keeps The Bear inside his yard.
This project meant having to pull out a lot of evil vines. My nemesis was everywhere and I got tagged. I knew sooner or later it would happen. Luckily it doesn't itch that much and seems under control but I learned a lesson about even attempting to wear shorts. My arms were well covered and I was wearing high socks but my knees got it badly. I hate ivy, I really do.
This first stretch is going to be our first section.

I took Bad Boy to grab 20 cedar fence posts from a guy who recycles wood from clear cutting operations. They were an awesome deal though this guy lived rather remote. Glad I had a four wheel drive vehicle because he also lived in a flood plain and we had 6 inches of rain in the last day and a half. I saw some seriously scary debris that had been pushed off the road as recently as - oh, this morning! Think boulders and large trees. Then their driveway was steep and completely washed out. I was glad to be loaded and out of there quickly as a storm was moving in and it was already starting to rain a little. FM and I will unload this later, after the rain stops.
