I have been on the lookout for pallets since I got here. I'm going to use them to build a "pallet shed". I constantly search for raw materials on the local Craig's List and you would be surprised at how much perfect raw building material is tossed out as scrap. Recently I saw a "Free" post for 200 cement blocks from a construction site. TWO HUNDRED!! All you had to do was pick them up. Yeah, right! In the Honda Van, I don't think so. <sigh>
That was before BAD BOY!
Today we had to take Bad Boy to see the insurance agent. Fearless Mom drove because she wanted to bond with her truck. We took a little detour into a Salvation Army store to look for a large, ceramic bowl for The Bear. He has recently decided he won't drink out of anything but the City Kitty's ceramic bowl. He's even boycotting the outside bowl because they are all made of metal and City Kit's is made of ceramic. He was being such a big baby about it.

So anyway, we decide to venture into this store and lo and behold, there was a sign posted on the front door - "Free Pallets With Small Purchase or Donation" - I shit you not!! We were sent to the American Monument Company, the little headstone place down the street. Death is big business here I guess and they would give us all the pallets we wanted. Oh MAN! (my nipples were rock hard). They even forklift loaded them into the Bad Boy and FM is currently getting her monies worth out of this truck. They told us to come back anytime we wanted more (hell yeah!) and we figured that with a little more squeezing in, we can fit about 12-14 pallets per load.
Awesome! All the same size too which is ideal when using them as building blocks. Ten so far - 50 more to go! For the little shed, not for both. It's a good thing we found a thriving grave stone business huh? I'm still on the lookout for concrete block.
