The "Squawk Box" is going off again. The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area. This is pretty common in the Spring and Summer.
The "Squawk Box" (as I like to call it) is an emergency weather system that automatically issues severe weather alerts long before you would ever get them on any other media. Kind of like a police scanner that only monitors weather stations (NWS, NOAA, etc)
Whenever there is even the potential of threatening weather, the box issues a very loud, shrill alarm followed by the voice of "Robo Weatherman" letting you know that the current storm moving in may be producing winds in excess of 60 mph and possibly 2 inch sized hail. Good to know, thanks!
At least it wasn't another Tornado warning!
